What Is DentiMax?
DentiMax is a dental technology company that sells both practice management software and digital X-ray sensors. That dual focus is unusual — most PMS vendors don't make hardware, and most sensor companies don't make software. DentiMax does both, and positions the combination as "better together, excellent alone."
The company serves thousands of dental practices in the U.S. and has earned strong industry recognition: a perfect 5.0 score from Dental Product Shopper for their software, a 4.8 for their Dream Sensor, "Best Products of 2026" from Clinician's Report for sensors, and Software Advice FrontRunners status.
DentiMax offers both on-premises and cloud deployment. The cloud version runs via Remote Desktop rather than being a true cloud-native application — an important distinction. It means you get remote access and cloud hosting, but the experience differs from a purpose-built cloud platform like Curve Dental or CareStack. It's closer to your on-premises software running on someone else's server.
Key Features
Scheduling
Customizable schedule views by provider, operatory, or location. A clever feature: you can copy or move entire appointment columns to handle sick day rescheduling in one action rather than rebooking individual appointments. Day templating for productivity optimization, automated procedure scheduling for common procedures, and online booking via Web Kiosk.
Appointment Book Pro (included in all tiers) adds custom views and revenue goal tracking — you can see how your day's bookings track against production targets in real time.
Insurance & Claims
Built-in logic for creating and validating claims with automatic attachment requirement flagging. Insurance Aging Drill Down screen for tracking claims without leaving the system. Real-time insurance verification and eligibility checking. Coverage and benefit summary storage.
The eClaims bundle with eAttachments, real-time eligibility, and real-time claim status are available at the Executive tier and above. A notable feature: DentiMax supports both CDT (dental) and CPT/ICD-10/HCPCS (medical) billing crossover — important for practices that do medical billing for certain dental procedures like TMJ treatment or sleep apnea appliances.
Billing & Payments
Line-item accounting that gives you a complete breakdown of patient accounts similar to an EOB. Collections tracking with payment plan creation for orthodontics, implants, and other multi-visit treatments. Text-statements with ePay, integrated credit card processing, and online patient payments.
Functional and thorough. The line-item accounting approach gives you more granular financial visibility than some competitors' ledger systems.
Imaging
This is where DentiMax has a genuine competitive advantage. Their imaging software is one of the few truly open digital imaging systems — it supports practically all dental sensors, phosphor plate scanners, intra-oral cameras, and digital pan/ceph units through TWAIN driver compatibility. You're not locked into specific hardware.
A free local imaging bridge is included where available. Cloud imaging is available at higher tiers. And DentiMax's own sensors — the Pro Sensor, Dream Sensor, and Open Sensor — work with other software platforms too, not just DentiMax's PMS. That openness cuts both ways and builds trust.
AI Features
DentiMax doesn't yet include AI capabilities — no AI-powered diagnostics, no voice charting, no AI call management. For practices where AI is a priority, this is an area to watch for future development.
Patient Engagement (DentiMax Communicator)
Available in the Ultimate Bundle and higher cloud tiers. Unlimited texting, mass emails, marketing campaigns, online scheduler, automatic recall system, appointment confirmations, and reviews/reputation management. Integration with Swell adds enhanced patient engagement and review management.
The base In-Office tier does not include patient engagement tools — you'd need the Ultimate Bundle or a separate tool. This is important to factor into your cost comparison.
Analytics & Reporting
Monthly production progress tracking, identification of weak days and unscheduled treatments, and referral tracking with due-back dates. The Ultimate and higher tiers add statistical data on practice performance. Appointment Book Pro includes revenue goal tracking across all tiers.
Adequate for a small practice monitoring core KPIs. Practices needing more advanced analytics may want to compare with CareStack's configurable dashboards or tab32's BigQuery data warehouse.
