Solutionreach Review

Transforming healthcare through patient engagement

patient-engagementEst. 2000Lehi, UTUpdated Apr 2026Visit website

Our Verdict

Solutionreach is one of the oldest and largest patient communication platforms in dentistry, serving over 50,000 practices and processing more than 1 billion patient-provider interactions annually. Founded in 2000 by Jim Higgins in Lehi, Utah, the company started in mobile banking before pivoting to healthcare communications after discovering the no-show problem in dental practices. Twenty-five years later, Solutionreach offers a comprehensive suite covering appointment reminders, two-way texting, online scheduling, recall, reputation management, and newsletters. But its longevity comes with baggage -- aggressive contract practices, inconsistent customer support, and a feature set that has grown broad without always growing deep.

Mid-to-large practices and DSOs that need a comprehensive all-in-one patient communication platform and are comfortable with multi-year contracts. Best for groups already on Solutionreach looking to optimize rather than practices evaluating new tools.

What Is Solutionreach?

Solutionreach is a patient communication and engagement platform that automates how dental practices interact with patients before, during, and after appointments. The core workflow: patients receive automated appointment reminders via text, email, or phone; they can confirm, reschedule, or cancel through those messages; and the practice's schedule updates accordingly through PMS integration.

Beyond reminders, the platform covers two-way HIPAA-compliant texting, online scheduling, patient recall campaigns, batch messaging for reactivation, insurance eligibility verification, reputation management (review requests and monitoring), and pre-built newsletter templates. It integrates with most major dental PMS platforms including Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Open Dental, and others.

The company serves dental, vision, and medical practices, but dental has been its core market since the Smile Reminder days. With over 50,000 practices and 226-410 employees (depending on the source), Solutionreach is one of the larger dental tech companies by install base.

Who Is It For?

Solutionreach targets mid-to-large practices and DSOs that want to consolidate patient communication into a single platform rather than stitching together separate tools for reminders, texting, reviews, and recall. If you are currently using three or four different services for these functions, Solutionreach's all-in-one approach has obvious appeal.

Multi-location groups benefit from standardized communication workflows across sites, centralized reporting, and the ability to manage reputation across locations from a single dashboard.

Solo practices can use Solutionreach, but the pricing ($329+/month) and feature breadth may be overkill for a single-provider office that just needs basic reminders and texting. Lighter tools like Weave, Emitrr, or even built-in PMS communication features may be more cost-appropriate.

Key Features

Appointment Reminders: Automated reminders via text, email, and phone. Patients can confirm, cancel, or reschedule directly from the message. Two-way sync with PMS scheduling.

Two-Way Texting: HIPAA-compliant text messaging with patients. Supports both individual conversations and batch messaging. Web-based interface for managing conversations from a desktop.

Online Scheduling: Patients can book appointments through a web portal. Integrates with PMS availability in real time.

Patient Recall: Automated campaigns to re-engage patients overdue for hygiene, treatment, or follow-up appointments. Customizable cadences and messaging.

Reputation Management: Automated review requests after appointments. Monitors Google, Facebook, Healthgrades, and other review sites. Dashboard for tracking review volume and sentiment.

Insurance Eligibility: Batch eligibility verification before appointments. Reduces front-desk verification calls and surprises at checkout.

Newsletters: Pre-made newsletter templates with dental care content. Customizable branding. Useful for patient education and practice marketing.

Pricing

Solutionreach starts at approximately $329/month with three pricing tiers available on a custom-quote basis. Multi-year contracts are typical, and this is where the complaints start.

Multiple reviewers on Capterra and G2 report being told by sales reps they could cancel anytime, only to discover they were locked into multi-year agreements with hefty cancellation fees. Some users report continued billing even after requesting cancellation. This pattern appears frequently enough in reviews to be a genuine concern rather than isolated incidents.

The pricing itself is mid-to-high for patient communication platforms. Weave starts around $399/month but includes a phone system. RevenueWell and Lighthouse 360 are in a similar range. The value equation depends on how many of Solutionreach's features you actually use -- if you are only using reminders and texting, you are overpaying.

Pros

  • Comprehensive feature set covering the full patient communication lifecycle
  • Broad PMS integration with all major dental systems
  • 25 years of industry experience and 50K+ practice install base
  • Two-way texting and online scheduling are well-executed
  • Newsletter templates save time on patient education content
  • Insurance eligibility verification reduces front-desk workload

Cons

  • Aggressive contract practices -- multiple reports of being locked into multi-year agreements
  • Customer support is consistently criticized as slow, unhelpful, and hard to reach
  • Continued billing after cancellation requests is reported frequently
  • Software has recurring bugs and glitches that are slow to resolve
  • Pricing is high relative to newer competitors offering similar features
  • Reporting and analytics are limited compared to modern alternatives

The Bottom Line

Solutionreach has the feature breadth and install base of a mature platform, and when it works, the all-in-one patient communication approach is genuinely convenient. The reminders, texting, and recall features do their jobs. But the volume of complaints about contract practices, billing issues, and customer support is impossible to ignore. Multiple reviewers describe being trapped in contracts they did not fully understand, charged after cancellation, and unable to get meaningful support when problems arise. If you go with Solutionreach, read every word of the contract, get cancellation terms in writing, and go in with eyes open. There are newer, more transparent competitors -- Weave, Emitrr, NexHealth -- that offer comparable features without the contractual baggage.
